Do You Meet the Essential Requirements?

Essential Position Requirements

Experience

You must have:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience (within the last 5 years) working with children and young people who have displayed extreme challenging and pain-based behaviours (including verbal aggression, physical aggression, and self-injury)

  • Experience working one-to-one with young people presenting complex behaviours

  • Experience within a residential setting (preferred) or a relevant health and social care environment

Qualifications

  • A degree-level qualification in a relevant discipline is desirable

  • Minimum essential requirement: Level 4 Diploma in a related discipline within health, social care, or residential care

Working Pattern Requirements

You must be able to:

  • Work shift patterns (approximately 5 shifts per fortnight for full-time staff)

  • Undertake sleepover shifts

  • Work flexible patterns based on the needs of the children and young people

Shift patterns will vary depending on the home and location and may include a mix of support shifts and sleepovers.

Driving Requirement

  • Full UK or Republic of Ireland driver’s licence

  • Held for a minimum of 12 months

Compliance & Checks

You must be able to:

  • Obtain the necessary international police checks

  • Meet any statutory state-based checks required in Australia

  • Satisfy all compliance requirements prior to travel

Visa & Right to Work Requirements

You must be eligible to obtain and hold the appropriate visa before entering Australia and have the legal right to work for Safe Places for Children Australia. Visa pathways include:

  • Skills in Demand (SID) 482 Visa

  • 417 Working Holiday Visa

Eligibility for Permanent Residency (following sponsorship) will be determined in line with Australian Government immigration requirements.
